Auctions, as a method of sale, have continued to gain popularity in Western Australia over the past 12 months, suggests Stuart Cox, Chief Executive Officer of real estate group, Harcourts Western Australia.
“Auctions are becoming more popular as a growing number of sellers are now seeing them as a viable sales method,” Mr Cox said.
Mr Cox says that auctions are now popular as they provide definite results in an uncertain property market.
“Because auctions have a deadline and often gather people together at one time to sell the property, it is the best process for both buyers and sellers.
“For buyers they know that the price they are paying is fair as they have seen others bidding, and for sellers the process shows exactly where the property is priced in the market on that day,” Mr Cox said.
“As a real estate business, Harcourts Western Australia has recognised the growing trend of auctions within the state and have actively capitalised on it by employing experienced auctioneer, Richard Kerr to help push our auction focus further,” Mr Cox continued.
A previous Perth resident, Mr Kerr has spent the last three and a half years working for Harcourts New Zealand as a sales consultant and auctioneer.
“Perth’s climate, beaches and people have drawn me back and I’m excited about being part of the new, emerging auction culture within Western Australia, especially after being immersed in it in New Zealand where it is very much alive and kicking.
“I’ve been an auction advocate since early 2005 and have predominately run auction campaigns since then. I’m totally passionate about the auction process and firmly believe it is the best way to sell and buy property,” Mr Kerr said.
To date, Mr Kerr has had a highly successful real estate career, having won the 2011 Harcourts NZ “Most Promising Auctioneer” award and the 2011 Real Estate Institute of New Zealand “Most Promising Auctioneer” award.
