Below is an excerpt from Harcourts’ July 2012 external client survey results for Australia and New Zealand.

New Zealand:

-         In July, we asked purchasers if the price they paid for their property met their expectations. Almost half of respondents (48%) indicated they spent the amount they were expecting to, and nearly a quarter (24%) spent less than expected.  Of our respondents in July, 44% feel that property prices will increase over the next 12 months; 37% predict prices will remain the same.

Q35. Do you think property prices will increase, decrease or stay the same over the next 12 months?

Australia:

-          We asked Purchasers in July if the price they paid for their property met their expectations; half of respondents (50%) indicated they spent the amount they were expecting to, and 1 in 3 spent more than expected.  Of our respondents in July, 57% feel that property prices will stay the same over the next 12 month; 20% feel that prices will decrease.
