New team offers more to one of NZ’s biggest cities

Harcourts has further increased it reach in Auckland with the opening of Harcourts Manukau last week.

Officially opening its doors on Friday April 13, Harcourts’ Manukau office will trade under Preet & Co Real Estate Ltd named after its business owner Preet Grewal.

Despite it being early in his career, Preet’s sharpness, professionalism and knowledge of the South Auckland market is unmistakable, having been named number one real estate sales consultant in South Auckland for 2011 with another agency.

Mr Grewal said that joining Harcourts, a New Zealand ‘born and bred’ real estate company was really a ‘no brainer’.

“Harcourts sells more real estate that any other company in the country and there was really no hesitation in my decision to embark on business ownership under the highly reputable brand. Manukau is one of New Zealand’s largest cities, and the opportunity to provide a service for such a population was…

Interest in Neurosurgery house high and will sell!

On the 21st April Harcourts Dunedin will auction the neurosurgery fundraiser house on site in the Mitre 10 Mega car park on Anderson Bay Road, Dunedin.

Marketing of the charity house, undertaken by Harcourts Dunedin, has returned great interest over the last few weeks says Harcourts Dunedin Manager Geoff Stevens and sales consultant Jane Bradshaw.

“We have seen good numbers through the open homes averaging 130 people each weekend which is great,” says Jane.

“Over the last four open homes there has been a lot of interest from different parties. This weekend will be the last opportunity to view the charity home from 1130am with the auction scheduled for 1230pm.”

March 3 saw local businesses unite as Mitre 10 Mega, Certified Builders Association of New Zealand and Harcourts Dunedin announced plans to build a three-bedroom home in the Mitre 10 Mega car park with proceeds going to the…

Home-buying confidence is back

108 residential properties sold last month

Sales of residential properties in Marlborough rebounded in March compared with the same month a year earlier.

One hundred and eight residential properties were sold in Marlborough last month, compared with 67 in March last year, according to Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) figures. However, March 2011 was a particularly slow month for residential sales in Marlborough.

Harcourts Marlborough co-owner Aaron Davis said first-home buyers, investors, and people who had been paid out from their Christchurch properties and were moving to Marlborough were driving the increased movement.

Others felt the time was right to upgrade to a more modern home.

“People are gaining confidence again and there is the perception the property market has bottomed out.

“After a few years of downwards pressure, the market has stabilised, as owners’ and buyers’ expectations are more aligned.”

The median house price in Marlborough increased…

House sales improve in Hamilton

First home buyers and investors drove a sharp improvement in house sales last month in Hamilton, says Harcourts.  Hamilton agency general manager Brian King said there were 265 sales last month compared to 246 in February, with the median price improving to $330,000 from $316,000 the previous month.  Residential properties took 35 days to sell last month compared to 46 in February.

King said the reason for the market lift was partly seasonal, but continued a “real improvement” over the past four months.

“It’s the best back to back result we’ve seen for around four years. There are good enquiries from first home buyers and there’s a really noticeable swing in the investor market.”

House supply has tightened in the city and it seemed buyers were reacting to the risk that short stock could lead to price rises, and they wanted to get in before that happened, King said.  There…
