Rare Leichhardt Gem Goes to Auction

Posted in: Australia, New South Wales

Real estate firm, Harcourts PropertyLink Group is set to host an exciting public auction as one of the suburb’s highly sought-after properties is planned to go under the hammer on Saturday, the 14th of April.

Steven Murabito, Business Owner of Harcourts PropertyLink, will be hosting the auction on the charming three bedroom, one bathroom Leichhardt home – a true renovators delight.

The property, which is located on the quiet north side of Elswick Street, provides easy access to the City West Link, and is within easy walking distance of Leichhardt’s cosmopolitan shopping and dining district.

“Leichhardt is a strategic area in Sydney as it is only six kilometres from the CBD. The property is in a very good location and this is a property that requires renovations, so there is the potential to add significant value and profit,” Steven said.

“The property has retained a great deal…

The Olympics of Auction in Melbourne this week

Posted in: Australia, Industry update, International, New Zealand

Harcourts Auctioneer Andrew North will fiercely compete for the title of Australasian Auctioneer Champion at the Sofitel in Melbourne this week.

A previous Harcourts auction champ and runner up in this year’s REINZ Auction Championship, senior division, Andrew is in the same position as colleague and past Australasian Auction Champs winner Phil McGoldrick. Phil was runner up in the REINZ heats in 2009 and went on to bring the Australasian Auction Champ title home. Harcourts new National Auction Manager Robert Tulp and previous REINZ Auction Champs runner-up himself knows Andrew is in a good place going into the competition.

“Andrew’s never missed a final for every competition he’s entered and has been a REINZ Auction Champs finalist for the past four years.”

“This competition is very tough. The best of the best compete and you have to be at the top of your game the whole way through.”

“Last…

Western Australia Embraces Auctions

Posted in: Australia, Western Australia

Over the past twelve months, real estate group, Harcourts Western Australia have seen a 50 per cent increase in the number of properties sold by auction.

Andrew Moore, Chief Executive Officer of Harcourts Western Australia, believes that the dramatic increase in auction numbers is partly due to the current softening of the state’s property market.

“As the property market softens, I believe more home sellers are seeing the benefits of selling via auction.

“As the average number of days a property sits on the market increases, an ever growing number of West Australians are looking to the auction process to give them an outcome sooner,” Mr Moore said.

Mr Moore suggests that selling via auction often delivers a faster sale and finds the true market value of a property.

“Because auctions have a deadline, and often gather people together at one time to sell the property,…

2011 Auctioneer Champs Novice Winner Richard Kerr

Harcourts auctioneers placed well in yesterday’s 2011 REINZ National Real Estate Auctioneers Championships, with auctioneers from within the group being named winner and runner-up in novice and senior categories.

Harcourts Mairangi Bay Auctioneer Richard Kerr convincingly won the novice competition ahead of fellow Harcourts contestant, Kerry McCormick of Tauranga; the only two Harcourts contestants competing in a field 15 strong. While Harcourts Mairangi Bay Manager and Auctioneer Andrew North was narrowly defeated and placed as runner up in the senior’s section.

Richard Kerr featured midfield with a great opening preamble for a Takapuna property. He had the crowd laughing with comments such as, ‘no bidding at an auction is like no snow at a Winterfest.” His big stature matched didn’t overwhelm as he confidently delivered an engaging number sequence with perfection, seeming to own the stage from the…
